After studying at Joe Blasco makeup school in Los Angeles, California in the mid 80's, Michelle received her esthetician license from Yamano beauty college and went on to work for Vera Brown—one of LA's most exclusive celebrity salons. Through the 90's came more commercial's and few shows, all while plucking away at Vera's until Michelle’s big break came in 1997. She became one of the makeup artists for CBS award winning and highest rated show in syndication, Judge Judy. Michelle currently still works for Judge Judy in Hollywood, and along the way has worked in the makeup department of various television shows such as Judge Joe Brown, Swift Justice and Fox Sports for 12 years.

It was in 2012 when Michelle's life changed forever, having been diagnosed with Bilateral Breast Cancer. This came with many complications and subsequently led to 12 more surgeries throughout the next few years. However, Michelle persisted and drew strength from her late mother who battled cancer for 30 years. Throughout treatment and in between surgeries, Michelle was faced with seemingly endless cocktails of medications, which had physical effects on her hair and skin. The effects were immediately obvious to somebody like Michelle, who's been interested in beauty ever since she spoke her first words. As her hair began to thin, and dull, Michelle was inspired to create a product that was natural and pure without fillers or chemicals to save her hair. At this moment, BLUMEN was born.

Since the company’s inception, Michelle has dedicated a portion of every sale to Avon Breast Cancer to support breast cancer research. It was Michelle’s dream to have a foundation to help women struggling with cancer, which is the driving force behind making BLUMEN a thriving company.
